Fighter Profiles
Profiles of some of the fighters from our club:
Richard is an established England team member, and will be representing his country in Ireland next year. Richard got his first taste of silverware at the BCKA Nationals in 2008, coming third in both divisions. Since then Richard has gone from strength to stength, he took the massive step of becoming a coach, and now, alongside Luke Smith runs one of the most successful clubs in the county. He has also proved himself nationally and internationally, winning the European Martial Arts title and competing at the first WKC World Championships.
Former lau Gar champion, Luke won his first tournament aged only 12, and has been a member of the England team ever since. He has also been in included in WKA and WKC England teams. Has silverware from many different national competitions, and has twice qualified for the World Championships. Luke has accolades from both National and European competitions, as well as performing well in the distinguished Irish Open, and the first WKC World Championships. Now aged 17, Luke is a highly experienced and established international fighter.
Sam is a very experienced fighter, and a senior BCKA England team member. He has competed at four european championships, and two World Championships. Sam was also part of the BCKA team, that competed in the illustrious "Final Countdown Team Challenge". Sam has won many trophies during his fighting career, with silverware from WKA, WKC, BKFA, and BCKA national competitions, including becoming the 2008 black belt heavyweight national champion . More recently, Sam proved he still has what it takes to compete at world level when he managed to qualify for the WKC 2009 World Championships.
William has also been training with BCKA in Desborugh for a number of years, very hard working individual, who won himself a highly respectable Third place at the 2008 BCKA Nationals. William even improved on this at the 2009 British Championships where he won himself a 2nd place in a string category. He will be looking to break into the England team this year. At the age of 15 William still has his best years in front of him.
An extemely hard-working and talented young individual. Stephen works very hard at the Desborough club, and has been training under the under the watchful eyes of top coaches such as Sam Lund, Luke Smith and Richard Faller. Recently became a British Champion, and things can only get better for Stephen.
Nala is another young fighter that has been training at Desborough a few years now. Nala has now managed to establish herself as one of the senior members of the class. She also demonstrated her talents (particularly kicking ability) when she managed to win herself a Second Place trophy at the 2008 BCKA National championships.
