Richard, William, Parys, LukeRichard & Luke ready for World Stage -
On Friday October the 30th, Desborough's two Instructors will be swapping the wonders of the Leisure Centre in Desborough, with the high life of a four star hotel in Dublin.
The two England fighters qualified for a place in the WKC National squad, and both found sponsors in the form of GSS Architecture (Richard Faller) and The Serina Restaurant (Luke Smith).
For Faller, aged only 20, reaching the World Finals is a fantastic achievement, transferring to the sport only a matter of years ago from Ju Jitsu, Faller was a natural winner from the very start, and very soon established himself as a major talent within his weight section, claiming several national accolades. Fellow England fighter Smith said "Richard has certainly got what it takes to compete at the highest level, he used to succeed on pure determination, but looking at him now, he backs it up with stacks of technical ability too".
A different story however explains the rise of 17 year old Luke Smith, having been a committed kickboxer from a very young age, he was a national champion aged only 12 and is only now trying his hand on the world stage. Luke said "I'm really looking forward to fighting, it's a great oppurtunity for me, as well as Richard" Luke went on to say that "Me and Richard (Faller) are both still very young, and we're going over there with nothing to lose, and everything to gain, so we're really looking forward to the occasion."
Current British Champion Barry Kang also had his say on the pair, he explained "aged 17 Luke has taken a huge step by instructing but has vast amounts of experience and with his enthusiasm, he delivers sessions well. Luke has competed at the highest level and his advanced skills and desire to succeed is one to be envied. He has won many tournaments and has an excellent attitude towards training and instructing."
He continued "Richard is a dedicated Martial Artist who has a desire to learn and always improve. When training he gives 100% and this is demonstrated when competing, he is getting better and more experienced every time he steps on the mat. His coaching style is excellent and his techniques are perfect, whic makes him a perfect role model to teach and show others how to carry out techniques."
Both Richard and Luke will travel to Dublin with high hopes of a Major success, but it looks like it's only the beginning for two very promising young athletes.
